Firefighter I & II

At Braxton College, our Firefighter Program is designed to prepare students for the demanding and rewarding career of fire service through hands-on training, classroom instruction, and real-world skill development.

Over the course of six months, students will receive a comprehensive education in fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials awareness, emergency response, teamwork, and firefighter safety while training in an environment designed to simulate the realities of the profession. Our experienced instructors bring years of field experience and leadership from active and retired fire service careers, providing students with practical knowledge that extends beyond the textbook. This program is designed to prepare students to be eligible to sit for the State of Florida Firefighter II Certification exam. Students must satisfy the requirements outlined in NFPA 1001 and Florida State Statute 69A-37.

 

The program emphasizes professionalism, physical readiness, communication, critical thinking, and operational confidence to help students succeed both in the academy and in the field. Through scenario-based training and skill-focused instruction, students develop the abilities needed to protect and serve their communities safely and effectively.
